Generaciones is a project that evolves each year, adapting to the changing demands of contemporary creation and updating its offer; that flexibility has made it a landmark initiative in the Spanish art community, in which over 15,000 artists have participated to date. Bea Espejo, art critic and arts editor for Babelia (El País), Margarida Mendes, independent curator and director of La Escuelita (CA2M), and Valentín Roma, director of La Virreina, evaluated the submissions of nearly 400 candidates and selected the 10 winning art projects of Generaciones 2018.
Winning artists: Serafín Álvarez (León, 1985), Umbral [Threshold]; José Díaz (Madrid, 1981), El sueño de la M30 [The M30 Dream]; Antonio Gagliano, Sistema nacional de Innovación [National Innovation System]; Irene Grau (Valencia, 1986), Ningún lugar en particular [Nowhere in Particular]; Marco Godoy (Madrid, 1986), La Ficción del poder [The Fiction of Power]; Antoni Hervàs (Barcelona, 1981), Autogruta [Auto-grotto] project; Lola Lasurt (Barcelona, 1983), Duelo por la España negra [Lament for Black Spain]; Elena Lavellés (Madrid, 1981), Dark Matter; Francisco Meana (Avilés, 1982), Starter Cultures; and Levi Orta (Havana, Cuba, 1984), El Heredero [The Heir].
