Teatro de La Abadía is one the most historic theatres in Madrid, known for staging the finest Spanish contemporary theatre. It is located in the former La Sagrada Familia Church. The company focuses on the proximity of the stage and the audience, sharing a sense of intelligent entertainment. The theatre is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2015, accompanied by a completely revamped identity and visual system.
"Abadía Abierta" is the name of the program inside the theatre that organizes workshops, meetings and other events. The theatre also serves as one of the hosts of the "Cities on Stage" European theatre program. Both activities have their own specific style within the main identity.
In addition to the main graphic elements of the identity, we illustrated the season's program using photographs of a set of iconic objects that had been used over the years in the staging of various plays. We worked with the photographer and artist Fernando Maselli.
